“Acting For Camera” Part of the Filmmakers Series - A Jacksonville Film Festival Program

Filmmakers Series continues with the announcement of “Acting For Camera” an Acting Workshop with two sessions offered on May 21st or 22nd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at WJCT.
Award-winning film writer/director/producer John A. Gallagher teaches this intensive one-day on-camera seminar on acting for the camera
The seminar explores the rigors of acting for film with the goal to strengthen, inspire and renew the actor through repetition, analysis, and improvisation. As a working director, John shares insight about acting for the camera from the filmmakers’ pint-of-view, offering a rare opportunity for actors to expand their awareness of the movie-making process.

John has cast 300 actors who have studies with him in various classes in features, shorts and theater.
John is a New York City-based filmmaker, a fixture on the New York scene for nearly 30 years as a director, writer, producer, author, historian and educator, with a wide range of international filmmaking resources and relationships, and a highly regarded, encyclopedic knowledge of films and filmmaking. His track record is especially strong in discovering and mentoring new talent, both in front of and behind the camera.

Among the actors John has worked with in debut or significant early roles are John Leguizamo, Amanda Peet, Zach Braff, Michael Imperioli, Gretchen Mol, Matthew Lillard, Heather Matarazzo, and Denis Leary, among others.
