All DUVAL 24 HOUR FILM FEST...

Twenty-four hour film festival will be all Duval, all day and night
by Matt Soergel on June 29, 2012 - 1:37pm Jack Yacks

Jacksonville filmmaker Chad Hendricks ("Insane in the Brain" and "Kracker Jack'd") is organizing an August event called, with great clarity, the All Duval 24-Hour Film

For a full day, it will show nothing but movies, documentaries and music videos made by locals. All that for $10. It'll start at 7 p.m. Aug. 4, taking place at the Performers Academy, 3674 Beach Blvd.

The festival's website has a list of some of what will be shown, and a link were filmmakers can submit videos. It's also where Hendricks explains his motivation, which grew out of a common frustration for local artists:

All Duval is an idea that sprung from me being tired of making movies & having nowhere to show them here in Duval County. I've premiered in the San Marco Theatre, Boomtown, 9th & Maine, The Florida Theater & even the old Playtime Drive-In, but the tough part is always a "One-and-done" Premiere, that folks find out about a day too late. I'm not alone. Too many friends have made movies & videos and haven't even gotten to screen their projects. Projects that deserve an audience, too. Too much effort. Too little money. Too many dreams down the drain.

Why not show off ALL movies made in Duval, but ALL those from Duval? Let's enjoy 24 Hours of the Good, the Bad & the Downright Silly!

Take a sleeping bag and a pillow to help get all the way through the marathon, Hendricks suggests
