SAVE THE DATE!

The 8th annual 2010 Jacksonville Film Festival will occur from October 14 to October 17. This year, the festival will feature screenings that include African American Spotlight Program, Viva Cinema, narratives, documentaries, and short films, along with workshops, panels, and additional events. The festival has confirmed the following workshops: Write Screenplays that Sell - The Ackerman Way, with Hal Ackerman, who co-heads the screenwriting program at UCLA and wrote Roof Garden, the winner of the Warren Adler 2008 award, along with many other acclaimed short stoies; and Pitching Your Idea, with Khris Baxter, who has optioned five screenplays to major Hollywood studios over the past 12 years and currently teaches screenwriting at Gettysburg College, The Writer's Center of Bethesda, and NoVA Community College.

The Jacksonville Film Festival is also sponsoring a Smart Car Raffle to fundraise money. One raffle ticket cost $25 and as a special promotion, five raffle tickets cost $100. Raffle tickets are available at Pulp in San Marco, Grassroots in Five Points, or on-line at Jacksonville Film Festival starting August 1st. The drawing will occur during the Jacksonville Film Festival Awards Ceremony on Sunday, October 17, 2010.
