Norman Studios is kicking off its Silent Film Competition in 2012!
Awards and prizes will be given under the following categories: Best Film, Director, Cinematography, Actor, Actress, Best Score.

On the heals of the Oscar success "The Artist," Jacksonville's own Silent Film Legacy and renewed belief that "Silent Film" is truly its own art-form waiting to be re-discovered, we're kicking off what we hope will be a new Jacksonville Annual Event!

Your help will benefit Norman Studios Silent Film Museum, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to continue its mission to protect and preserve the history of silent film and to celebrate the African-American experience and the role of filmmaker Richard Norman in the early days of the movie industry as well as promote the growth of our wonderful industry.

EVENT DATES
Kick-Off/Meet and Greet - Thursday, May 3rd
Three Layers Coffeehouse in Springfield (1602 Walnut Street ) 7:00pm
The official start of the event is to announce more detail, review the rules, screenings, selection process of winners, awards and prizes.
Lights, Camera, Action! - Wednesday, May 2nd - Thursday, May 31st
At the conclusion of the kick-off, contestants may begin the filming and have the month of May to complete a final product.
Deliver Your Film – Friday June, 1st (location TBD)
Your final film must be output twice. 1. As a playable DVD and, 2. a QuickTime .MOV, Dimensions: 1280x720 HD on a USB Thumb Drive.
Screenings – Tuesday and Wednesday, June 5th and 6th 7:00pm-9pm (location TBD)
Each night will consist of a mix of all genres and the “viewer’s choice” winner will be announced after that night’s screening.
Finalists / Awards Ceremony – (September, location TBD)
The “Best Film” finalists will be screened and the winners for best Director, Cinematography, Actor, Actress, Best Score will be announced.
